Agency Services Overall

For over 50 years, Casa Central has improved the quality of life for low-income residents of Humboldt Park, Logan Square, West Town and other Chicago communities.

Casa Central has grown to become the largest Hispanic social service agency in the Midwest, reaching approximately 20,000 individuals through a network of 25 bilingual/bicultural social service programs offered through nine facilities.

Casa Central targets children, youth, families and the elderly. Casa Central's programs include:

  • Home-based and Center-based Head Start for children ages two to five
  • After School Programs for children ages five to twelve, and youth ages twelve to twenty
  • Learning and Serving volunteer tutoring and mentoring for children and youth
  • Child Welfare Programs including Foster Care, Adoption, and Family Preservation
  • Teen Pregnancy Prevention and Adolescent Parenting for teens with children aged birth to three
  • Domestic Violence Intervention
  • Employment Training and Placement for low-income individuals
  • La Posada, a transitional housing program for homeless families, which includes an array of supportive services such as job training, literacy, and childcare services
  • “Over 55” job training and placement for seniors, Homecare Services for home-bound elderly, Adult Wellness for moderately-impaired low-income elderly

Casa Central serves as a role model for other social service providers; our agency listens closely to community members and develops and adapts services responsive to their unmet needs. Casa Central builds upon the strengths of the entire family, equipping its members with the tools necessary to problem-solve and become self-sufficient.

Casa Central has received several awards for outstanding community service. In September of 2003, the agency received the Community Empowerment Award from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Other awards include: the James Brown IV Award from The Chicago Community Trust, the Partnership in Health Award from the City of Chicago Department of Health, the Cook County State's Attorney Award, the Amoco Partner Award from the Amoco Foundation, the Ethics in Business Award from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Business Administration, the Bank of America Community Impact Award, and “Outstanding Agency of the Year” recognition at the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services Hispanic Family Conference.

In May of 2006, Hispanic Business Magazine ranked Casa Central among the top 25 Hispanic non-profit agencies in the nation for the seventh consecutive year. Most recently, Casa Central was one of two organizations in Chicago selected to receive the Bank of America’s 2006 Community Builder Award.
