Training Team
Charge:
To identify potential institutional partners to develop and carry
out research, training, and capacity-building for service providers
and first responders in the area of young children's exposure to
violence. This team will become the institutional home for this
issue once federal grant ends; thus, the institutional partners
will have to be willing to make an on-going commitment to research
and training in this area.
Summary of
Efforts to Date: The Training
Team meets regularly to develop strategies for training across multiple
venues on exposure to violence. The team has worked with the Police
Department to help develop the appropriate training on the new police
protocol and child development. Police training began in September;
the Mayor's Office on Domestic Violence HelpLine has also been trained
on a new protocol that expands its focus to community violence.
Additional tasks include ongoing exploration of new curricula and
methods of presentation.
