Responder
Team Charge: To develop the detailed procedures and protocols for first responder police to identify children at domestic violence and community violence scenes and to make provisions for linking families to family support or mental health services as appropriate. This is a core component of the Incident-Based Response System. The procedure may rely on the Domestic Violence HelpLine, as appropriate, and may build on the existing CPD Domestic Violence protocol, as appropriate. Summary of Efforts to Date: The First Responder Team meets regularly to implement changes to the police protocol and coordinate efforts with the Mayor's Office on Domestic Violence. The team has met its charge to develop procedures and protocols for first responder police to identify children at domestic violence and community violence scenes and to link families to appropriate support services.
