Charge: To develop a core program plan and client service that defines the family support and mental health services that will be provided to children exposed to violence and their families. This is intended to become the basis for citywide services.

Summary of Efforts to Date: The Direct Service Team meets regularly and has met its charge to develop a core program plan for services to be provided under Chicago Safe Start. This team developed a set of principles to serve as a foundation for the service models and has identified the core service components in each area. Additional tasks include:

• Development of instruments (i.e. screening tools, assessments, etc.)
• Development of key messages for service delivery
• Research and application for Internal Review Board (IRB)
